Dr. Faridah Amin

Professor Faridah Amin is an avid clinician, researcher, trainer, educator and a philatropist. She is currently serving Indus Health network as a community health Director. She established the Department of Family Medicine and Senior Citizens unit at Liaquat National Hospital and Medical College, Karachi, Pakistan. After graduating from Baqai Medical University in 2002, she completed her Masters in Clinical Research and a four year postgraduate training in Family Medicine from Aga Khan University Hospital, Karachi in 2009. The same year she became Fellow of College of Physicians and Surgeons of Pakistan (FCPS) and Member of RCGP (MRCGP international). She further went on to complete PhD in Health Sciences from the same University in 2014. In 2015, she was awarded Gold medal and “Young Research Scholar” award for her clinical trial on the efficacy of Turmeric and Black seeds in Metabolic syndrome (TAK-METS). She has more than 40 publications to her credit and started Pakistan’s only Primary care Journal “LNJPC” as editor in chief. Moreover, she is a reviewer and editorial board member of various medical journals, including BMJ group. She is the founder member of MRCGP international and overseas network and faculty and examiner for CPSP and MRCGP.

She is involved in teaching and training general practitioners since 2015, is a CPSP faculty and has established and supervising a FCPS family medicine residency program at LNH. Shes also member of advisory committee for establishing a Family practice approach by Ministry of Health, Govt. Of Pakistan. She has provided health awareness on multiple primary care topics through print media, television and various community forums. Her philantropic work is also evident from a recent chain of primary healthcare welfare clinics by the name “Feesabilillah Health care”. These clinics are located in suburbs, where patients are offered consultation through MCPS/MRCGP family physicians, free medications and lab tests.
